Tropical Storm Tej can develop to first-degree tropical cyclone

Muscat: Civil Aviation Authority issued weather alert No. (3) on Tropical situation in the Arabian Sea Tropical Storm (Tej)

The CAA said: “The latest satellite images and analyzes of the National Centre of Early Warning of Multiple Hazards indicate that the tropical condition continues as a tropical storm It is about 870 km away from the coast of the Sultanate of Oman.”

It is centered southwest of the Arabian Sea at latitude 10 north and longitude 58.53 east, and the wind speed around the center is estimated at 50 to 63 knots, the nearest accompanying rain cloud mass is about 600 km away from wilayat of Sadah.

The forecasts indicate that it will continue to move west-northwest towards the coasts of Dhofar Governorate and the sister Republic of Yemen (Al-Mahra Governorate), with chances of it developing into a first-degree tropical cyclone within the next 24 hours.

It is expected that the direct impact on the Dhofar and Al-Wusta Governorates will begin on the evening of Sunday, October 22, with the possibility of crossing the center of the situation in the morning, and from Tuesday between the Dhofar Governorate and Yemen (Al-Mahra Governorate).
