Oman condemns Israeli airstrikes on Lebanon

Muscat: The Sultanate of Oman expressed its denunciation and condemnation of Israeli Occupation Forces (IOF) airstrikes on Lebanon’s territories.

Oman noted that this action constitutes a serious escalation that undermines security and stability in the region and leads to the expansion of conflict in a manner that involves the region in further violence and instability.

In a statement by the Foreign Ministry, Oman urged the international community to take measures to end this Israeli aggression in accordance with international law.

The Sultanate of Oman also expressed its solidarity with the Lebanese Republic. It also expressed its condolences to families of the victims, wishing the injured a speedy recovery. Oman emphasised its complete rejection of any violations of Lebanon’s sovereignty or its territorial integrity.

The Israeli army said it had hit dozens of Hezbollah targets Tuesday overnight, after it launched an attack in southern Lebanon on Monday. Lebanese authorities say nearly 500 people were killed in the Israeli strikes.

Hezbollah said it had hit several Israeli military targets, including an explosives factory inside Israel.

Tens of thousands in southern Lebanon are fleeing the area, packing people and belongings into cars and causing major traffic jams as they head towards the north of the country.

The cross-border conflict between Israel and Hezbollah has escalated just days after the militant group’s leaders were hit by explosions on their electronic devices. -With ONA inputs
